"YTT training here in our backyard? - that is a big Y-E-S, yes! Having attended YTT overseas and at Shamana, I can attest to the high calibre of the teachers. Natalie, Cammii and the team have years of experience, acquired through multiple disciplines and from multiple sources. Their knowledge goes deep in both the theoretical and practical. They can show a student that a slight tilt of their pelvis keeps them safe in a pose and tell you the why. They can help students understand how to build their strength to “get the pose”. They can explain why breathing is fundamental to movement. They can help students obtain a better understanding of yoga philosophy. But a solid foundation is just the expected standard. What elevates the Shamana YTT to a higher level is Nat and her colleagues’ desire to see their students succeed. This is evident in their classes, and is amplified in YTT. They challenge their students, and do so because they know what we can achieve. Moreover, getting trained locally creates an ongoing connection. It is the beginning of a relationship students will have with their teachers. But I don’t intend to teach, is YTT still for me? Yes. My journey into yoga was just to follow my curiosity. As I learned more, my personal practice deepened. My goal for pursuing YTT was purely to do yoga on my own, unplugged from my devices. But I wanted to do it properly. Now that I have ventured further, I have developed a daily practice that works for me, even when I can’t get to the studio. I see the connection of the philosophy with the asana and I understand how important maintaining the correct alignment is. If you have considered furthering your yoga practice, give the Shamana YTT a go."
